Village Movement California Conference
Members of GNV’s Board of Directors attended the Village Movement California (VMC) conference, Fulfilling our Potential, on June 2 in Oakland.
The agenda was brimming with panels, presentations, relationship building and peer-to-peer sharing, exploring best practices for sustainable aging in Villages across the state. Conference speakers emphasized the importance of Villages as intentional communities operating on the concept of reciprocity, mutuality and generosity.
Additionally, attendees learned how VMC is a major advocate for Villages as a solution to meet the 5 Goals of Governor Newsom’s California Master Plan for Aging, a framework of strategies and policies for all of the state’s older adults. Villages are included in this Master Plan and will play key roles in healthy aging: support older adults to age in their homes and communities, deliver social care services, reduce isolation and assist family caregivers
