Successful Community Financial Scam Awareness and Protection Event

Our recent community event on financial scams saw a strong turnout, reflecting growing awareness about fraud and personal financial safety. Attendees learned how to spot common scams such as phishing emails, phone fraud, and suspicious investment offers, with experts highlighting key warning signs like urgent requests and deals that seem too good to be true. A special thanks to Alex Cadenas from the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation office for a helpful and informative presentation, Astrid Scott from Senator Aisha Wahab’s office for the informational handouts, Jan Quilici and Andrea Cameron for the delicious cookies, and Judy Hollowell for the fruit kabobs.
If you were unable to attend, please note that you will have another opportunity to attend this Community Workshop. A Senior Scam Prevention Community Workshop will be held on Friday, April 19th, 2026 from 1:30-3:00 PM at the Age Well Center at South Fremont. Please see attached flyer for more information.

Visit the museum to learn about the history of the Tri-City, from the Mission and Rancho Eras through to pre-incorporation — back when Fremont, Newark and Union City were made up of farms, ranches and dairies, and later, after the cities incorporated, suburban communities. Visitors will discover how the waves of families who moved here lived, worked, and established a thriving small-town community.

No Host Lunch in Groups: We will have the option to continue the fun and discuss what we learned by going to lunch in the area on our own afterwards.

Here are are a few nearby restaurants you might enjoy:
