GREEN IS GOOD
Research shows that breathing fresh air, and seeing greenery, reduces somatic stress in our body, and clears our mind. You don't have to head for the woods to enjoy nature's restorative effects—even a glimpse of nature from a window helps. Let this peak into Villager Ann Halligan’s unique garden inspire you to seek out your own solace in nature.
Ann explains: It all started with a door of solid redwood constructed for an 1868 San Leandro farmhouse. It was my family home in the 1940s and 1950s. When the house was torn down in the 1970s, this door was saved and became the inspiration for my garden mural. The artist was the very talented Anita Danforth, who had a wonderful knack for collaboration. She created an image that reflects my love of Ireland and my father’s family home in County Down. She also included reminders of my husband’s hobbies and of our life together in this Niles house. Behind that door is a “hallway” with all my husband’s fishing gear..ready to go! |
