NEEDLEWORK GROUP

Monday, March 25, 2019
10:00 - 11:30 am
Fellowship Hall
Niles Discovery Church
36600 Niles Blvd

We are continuing to work on individual projects while sharing our interests, knowledge, encouragement, and friendship.  We are, also, discussing ideas for service projects.

Some of us have started creating “Twiddlemuffs” for Alzheimer and dementia patients. “TwiddleMuffs” are knitted or sewn hand-warmers that provide sensory stimulation for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia. They keep restless hands busy and soothe and comfort those who are anxious or agitated. We have contacted local facilities caring for these patients to see if there is a need, as well as, preparing samples to share with the group before our next meeting.

Bring your needlework project or start something new.  Then learn about Greater Niles Village, and JOIN US!

HELPING HANDS TEAM

Monday, April 8 , 2019
1:00 - 3:00 pm
Fellowship Hall
Niles Discovery Church
36600 Niles Blvd

The Helping Hands is the team designing how Greater Niles Village provides assistance when Villagers need a Hand.  At the next meeting we’ll continue planning three types of services:
  • Initial friendly visits and phone calls
  • Information about local services and help accessing them
  • Household chores - both indoors and outdoors

Greater Niles Village (GNV) is a vibrant community of neighbors who share their skills
and support to navigate the challenges and opportunities of aging.
At Greater Niles Village, we believe a better experience of aging is possible
when we can grow with and rely on each other.
