HELPING HANDS TEAM

Monday, March 11, 2019
1:00 - 3:00 pm
Fellowship Hall
Niles Discovery Church
36600 Niles Blvd

WOW!!!

A million “thank you’s” to the 20 Greater Niles neighbors who attended Greater Niles Village’s first meeting of the Helping Hands Team.  Everyone’s enthusiasm, insight, and creativity are truly inspiring!

Helping Hands is the Team that will design how Greater Niles Village (GNV) provides assistance when Villagers need a hand. The Team discussed the types of services Villages typically handle, and what members know about neighbors’ needs in the Greater NIles area.  There’s much to be done.  Where to start?  With great neighbors!

Helping Hand’s second organizational meeting will start with how to provide three types of services:
  • Household chores – both indoors and outdoors
  • Providing information about local services and help to access them
  • Friendly visits and phone calls
JOIN US!  If you are interested but can’t make the meeting, or you have any questions, feel free to call me, Kathy Steel-Sabo, Board Chairperson, at 520-790-3135.

GREATER NILES VILLAGE

Greater Niles Village, is a vibrant community of neighbors along Mission Boulevard from the Union City border to Morrison Canyon/Walnut Avenue who support each other to navigate the challenges and opportunities of aging. At Greater Niles Village, we believe a better experience of aging is possible when we can grow with and rely on each other.

WHAT IS A VILLAGE? Villages are non-profit, member-driven organizations dedicated to positively impacting health and interdependence by assisting members form social networks and secure practical assistance to age safely and successfully in their own communities. Through villages, older adults are empowered and remain in charge of their lives as they age.

JOIN US! Greater Niles Village is a new non-profit, member-driven organization led by a Board of Directors. Like the 350 Villages in the U.S. GNV’s members will enjoy stronger community connections, less isolation, increased independence and enhanced purpose of life. We are looking for neighbors who share our excitement about GNV and want to make GNV a reality.

Greater Niles Village will start its membership drive next month. Members will determine what we do and design how we do it. Becoming a member in GNV’s inaugural year is a great way to demonstrate your commitment to having a Village in Greater Niles.
